TEACHER VISITATION PROGRAM

POLICY AND PROCEDURES

 

PURPOSE

The St. Lawrence Valley Teachers’ Learning Center is prepared to help teachers make contact with their colleagues for the purpose of networking ideas, programs, lessons, and exploring alternative methods and concepts in education.

            The Teacher Visitation Program is intended to promote professional sharing when that sharing is not possible through districts’ resources.

            The Teacher Visitation Program is not intended to supplant or duplicate district funds for the same purpose.

ACTUAL SERVICES AVAILABLE FROM THE  SLVTL CENTER

 

1.                  Substitute teacher reimbursement costs for half day or full day (max. of $60/day).

2.                  Mileage reimbursement to the school district for a maximum of 200 miles at $.585/mile.

 

WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE CENTER

Lodging, tuition or registration fees, programs, conferences or workshops are NOT COVERED.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

1.                  Prior approval of a district administrator is required with a signature on the application.

2.                  The application must be submitted and approved by the TLC prior to the actual visit.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

THE APPLICANT WILL:

1.                  Plan cooperatively with the home district administration and the district to be visited in making arrangements for dates, times, etc., for the visitation.

2.                  Submit a completed application to the Teachers’ Center (Forms are available from the Center or the district Policy Bard Representative or on the Center website). 

Please note:  We cannot accept applications submitted after May 1st of any calendar year.

3.                  Following approval from the Center and the actual visitation, the applicant will submit an evaluation report.

 

THE TEACHERS’ LEARNING CENTER WILL:

1.                  Upon receipt of the application, review the budget and the application.

2.                  If sufficient funds are available to meet the request and the request is within the established guidelines, the Center will notify the applicant and district administrator of the approval and its intent to reimburse district for costs incurred as outlines in the application.

3.                  With the approval letter, the Center will also send the required Certification and Evaluation forms to be completed at the conclusion of the visit.

4.                  Upon receipt of the Certification and Evaluation forms, the Center will process reimbursement.  Reimbursement payment can be expected within 30-45 days.
